Melkam Addis Amet!
Happy Ethiopian New Year! I hope that everyone gets to have at least a little celebration today or this weekend for Ethiopian New Year. We are going to miss the celebration in our community this weekend and we are really bummed out about that. Maybe we'll at least get dinner at the Blue Nile tonight in honor of the holiday.
I have to say, I think Ethiopia has got this one right. For me, the fall feels much more like a time of new beginings than January. Maybe its the back to school feeling of it all but if there was ever a time I'd be motivated for resolutions, it is in September. I haven't got it all sorted out in my mind yet but when I do maybe I'll post my resolutions for this new year.

Melkam Addis Ahmet!!!!!
We'll miss you over the weekend. Let's plan to celebrate meskal/meskel together later this month (with a playdate in between for good measure)!
I posted about resolutions and this being the appropriate time for new beginnings too, last year. Guess it's that back to school feeling that makes things seem so attainable.
Hi! I've been a 'lurker' in the blog world for a few weeks now as my husband and I start the process of adopting from Ethiopia. In reading your blog, it seems like we might live in the same area. Without giving too much away,I work at the University and my husband owns a business downtown. My e-mail address is wendi_ailor@yahoo.com and I would be glad to hear from you if you feel ok connecting that way.
Thanks for your time! Wendi
Where did you get Sam's hat?? Malak NEEEDS one! :)
I rcvd your comment - thank you sooo much! I don't think it's weird at all that you were thinking about me :) I remember watching Emily Alexander in her wait and thinking about her all the time. I couldn't figure out how she could handle all the waiting (now we're having to do it!) Anyway, we appreciate your thoughts! It's amazing how emotionally invested we get in other's lives through the blogging community!
What a fun day- I love learning more about the ethiopian culture :)
